Viktória Várkonyi Violin
Viktória Várkonyi is a Hungarian violinist with a versatile career, excelling as a performing artist, music pedagogue and researcher.
Viktória is currently a University Assistant (PraeDoc) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW). Her work focuses on Community Music and Music Mediation. Driven by a passion for the social and civic responsibilities of artists, she views music as a dynamic interaction and continuously explores innovative ways to connect with people through music. She is also a substitute teacher at Superar Wien, a community orchestra initiative. Additionally, as an alumna of the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS) 2022, she has been teaching violin on an online platform, in collaboration with the AMFS.
Her musical journey began in Hungary, where she was influenced by the Kodály Method, which continues to shape her pedagogical approach. After graduating from the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest, Viktória studied at the MDW in Vienna, completing her master’s studies in early 2024 in the class of Georg Hamann. Alongside her musical education, she earned a master’s degree in Communication and Media Science from the Corvinus University Budapest.
Viktória has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Gil Shaham, Almita Vamos, Naoko Tanaka, Pacifica Quartet and Ernst Kovacic. As a member of different orchestras she regularly performs in prestigious venues like the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Wiener Musikverein and has toured in numerous countries. Her love for dance has also led her to collaborate as a soloist in crossover art projects with dancers.
