Tess Anderson Cello

Tess Anderson, 22, is a cellist from West Lothian, Scotland. She is currently studying with Betsy Taylor at the Royal Conservatoire  of Scotland where she has taken part in various masterclasses for chamber and solo music with wonderful musicians such as Philip Higham and Pedro De Alcantara. She enjoys performing in chamber music concerts organised with fellow students and is interested in exploring the collaborative nature of music. She has played in multiple opera productions at RCS and performed with the RCS Symphony Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. Tess volunteers with RCS Junior Conservatoire assisting young string ensembles.

After suffering a shoulder injury, she has become interested in the awareness of the physicality of playing and how physical and mental wellbeing directly impact musicians playing and lives as performers. As part of this she studies Alexander Technique to integrate into her practise.

Tess is excited to be a Benedetti Foundation ambassador this year as she is very enthusiastic about making music more accessible to all and eager to learn from fellow ambassadors and inspiring tutors.
