Simònne Worthington Violin

Simònne is a violinist and educator based in Warwickshire. Originally from South Africa, her interests as an artist are influenced by a background of cultural diversity and colourful self-expression. She is fascinated by the relationship between music and language and believes that music is one of the most powerful means of bringing people together.

Having studied under Pavel Fischer and Caroline Pether, Simònne recently graduated with BMus (Hons) from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC). She is currently working as a freelance artist and teacher and enjoys exploring music in a diverse variety of styles, from classical to traditional folk and music with Indian roots.

Her teaching experience ranges from one-to-one to small groups and whole class, and she enjoys workshopping for young musicians as well as coaching chamber ensembles. Whilst studying at RBC, she was involved with the ARCO project: a long-distance teaching programme connected to the Morris Isaacson Centre for Music in Soweto, South Africa. During this time, she organised a fund-raising concert for ARCO, performing a programme of music by South African composers and other under-represented composers with African roots.

As an orchestral musician, she has worked with conductors such as Kazuki Yamada and Duncan Ward and has had the opportunity to perform at internationally respected venues including the Royal Concertgebouw, Elbphilharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin and the Verbier Festival. She has led several orchestras, including the South African National Youth Orchestra in December 2016, and in June 2023 she was co-principal for the RBC Symphony Orchestra.
