Seth Collin Cello

Seth is currently studying the cello with Louise Hopkins and will commence his postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2024, supported by The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and Help Musicians. Recently, he has performed at the Chipping Campden Festival as part of their Orchestra Academy, the Brundibar Arts Festival, and St. Endellion Festivals. Concerto performances this past year have included Haydn D Major with the orchestra of Clare College, Cambridge, Brahms’ Double Concerto with the City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra and Northumberland Orchestral Society. Seth is a keen chamber musician, as cellist of the Telyn Quartet, and has received coaching and public masterclasses with the London Haydn Quartet, Doric Quartet, Krysia Osotowicz, Robin Ireland, and Ursula Smith, among others. He is artistic director of the Pudding Chare Music Festival, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which looks forward to its first edition in August 2024. He was Co-Principal cellist of NYOGB in 2020, and studied previously with Karen Stephenson, and Jennifer Langridge at the JRNCM, where he won the concerto competition. Seth enjoys working in music education and outreach and has given workshops in many schools, and conducted youth orchestras in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He holds a first-class BA in Medical Sciences from the University of Cambridge, where he was a member of the Instrumental Award Scheme.
