Rosy Shoushanian Violin
Rosy Shoushanian is a Syrian-Armenian violinist, performer, teaching artist, and artistic director. Living in a war-torn country, her mission has been to spread hope, peace, and joy through music. Having trained formally as a pharmacist as well as a violinist, she now uses her music to cure what medicine cannot–the hearts and the minds of the people.
During the decade-long war in Syria, Rosy never stopped performing and teaching music as it was the one thing that brought her any semblance of hope or peace as a young adult.
After the devastating 2023 earthquake in Aleppo, she founded the Dream Big Project. Starting with the first summer violin camp in Aleppo where children, having already lived their entire lives in war, could find that same sense of hope and peace by making music together in a fun, caring, and supportive environment.
Since 2014, Rosy has performed with various chamber orchestras and bands throughout Syria, playing on magnificent stages such as the Damascus Opera House, and historic venues like the amphitheater of the Aleppo Citadel. She also performed in Yerevan, Armenia after three-weeks masterclasses with Prof. Bagrat Vardanyan.
Ms. Shoushanian is a speaker and advocate for music education. She regularly holds music workshops in local schools and believes in human-based music education.
Her strong passion for music and desire for continuous learning drove her to pull influence and learn online from amazing teachers and musicians from around the world. She currently studies with Dr. Kirsten Yon and has played in masterclasses for Rachel Barton Pine, Nancy Zhou, and Eunice Kim in the SSAG festival.
