Rhiannon Bedford Violin

Rhiannon Bedford is a violinist from Bristol who has recently graduated from a masters at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has an undergraduate degree in Music from the University of Manchester. During her masters she performed with the Symphony Orchestra, String Soloists and Opera orchestra and enjoyed opportunities to lead and co-lead ensembles in workshops and performance. Since graduating she has worked as a freelance violinist, playing with orchestras and chamber ensembles in the South West and Wales. She is particularly interested in 20th century and contemporary repertoire and is currently part of Birmingham Contemporary Music Group’s NEXT ensemble for early career musicians.

As half of The Keeling Curve, a violin and electronics duo, she writes and performs experimental music informed by place. They have received grants from Sound and Music, Arts&Heritage, and worked on Arts Council of England funded multimedia projects. They were shortlisted for the inaugural Tippett Medal for their work ‘Mersey Beat’.

She is passionate about creativity in music education and, alongside her own teaching practice, has worked for Chetham’s School of Music, Bristol Beacon, and the National Children’s Orchestra. She supports community music projects with Bristol Beacon and Evolve Music, and is constantly inspired by the power of group music-making to improve wellbeing and build social connections.
