Meg Glover Saxophone
Meg Glover is originally from Manchester, where she studied saxophone at the Junior RNCM. Meg went on to study at RWCMD with Gerard McChrystal. During her time at the Royal Welsh, Meg has won numerous awards for saxophone including the Howarth’s of London Single Reed Prize, June Emerson Launchpad Prize and Wind Plus Ensemble Prize. As well as performing in the final of the annual Concerto Competition in 2021 and the Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize final in 2022. Meg went on to win the Concerto Competition in 2022.
Since graduating, Meg has made her Concerto debut with RWCMD Symphony Orchestra at St David’s Hall, Cardiff, performing Tomasis’ Saxophone Concerto. She has performed recitals at Wells Cathedral School, Bristol Cathedral, Bath Abbey and St Paul’s Church in Clifton as part of their lunchtime concert series. Meg won First Prize for her submission to Birmingham International Music Competition and has been awarded the Finzi Trust Young Musicians Fund. In March 2023, Meg made her orchestral debut with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in Zimmermanns’ ‘Nobody knows de trouble I see’. In September, she will be performing Milhauds’ ‘Scaramouche’ alongside Bizets’ ‘L'Arlésienne’ with Brecknock Sinfonia. This year Meg is a featured artist with Music in Country Churches and looks forward to her joint recital in July.
Meg is currently based at Wells Cathedral School where she works as a Graduate Music Assistant. She hopes to engage further in the world of music education before studying a saxophone Masters next year.
