Hazel Lattimore
Cello and Conducting

Hazel Lattimore is an Irish cellist and conductor who engages in orchestra, session and musical theatre work.

Born in Mornington, Hazel’s musical journey started in the Julianstown Youth Orchestra under the baton of Fergus Sheil. Hazel went on to study in the Royal Irish Academy of Music before completing her BMus in the TUDublin Conservatoire. She regularly performs with ensembles such as Ériu, Caledonian Chamber Orchestra, the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra and the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI).

Hazel acted as principle cellist for the CBOI for three Peace-Proms tours including a performance in Carnegie Hall, New York. Hazel had the honour of performing for and meeting US President Joe Biden on his visit to Dundalk with a quintet of CBOI members.

Hazel is passionate about conducting. Following her conducting debut at 14, she has since continued her studies with maestros David Brophy, Robert Houlihan and Geoffrey Spratt.

Outside of the world of classical music, Hazel regularly takes part in recording sessions. She has recorded in Windmill Lane Studio and in the TUD Studio. She is featured in albums by Ylroy and Saso and features in the music video Ruin by Moncrieff.

Hazel enjoys performing as a pit musician in musical theatre productions. She also enjoys performing in the festival circuit including performances in Forbidden-Fruit Festival and opening for Sir Rod Stewart.

Hazel is passionate about music education and currently teaches in Grow Music School and with Count Us In. She is honoured to be an Instrumental Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation.
