Emilian Teodor Danila Viola

Emilian is a Romanian musician based in the UK, finishing his Masters in Viola Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He was guided by Jane Atkins and Scott Dickinson in his journey of exploring the viola and its unique repertoire, and beside the well-known pieces, he is bringing forward his Eastern European roots by playing and promoting composers such as George Enescu, Mihail Jora, Pascal Bentoiu and others. He has been playing ‘Side-by-Side’ with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Ensemble, and the Royal Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and is now member of a newly emerging chamber music ensemble focused on bringing a variety of repertoire in concerts based around a community-driven approach. Emilian is also exploring the violin, in both solo and chamber settings, bringing hidden gems of the repertoire as well as his own compositions to the highlight.

Aside from performing, Emilian is focused on promoting a more well-rounded education to the musical world, through combining aspects of instrumental teaching with aural and improvisatory techniques. He believes that all performers should strive towards understanding the basics of composition and theory, to engage in a more multi-dimensional way of music-making.

Emilian is a proud Benedetti Foundation Ambassador and is tremendously excited to share the foundation’s mission and ideals in the UK and beyond.
