David completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Glasgow and University of Illinois before going on to gain a Masters in 'Cello Performance with Distinction from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He combines regular teaching/conducting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Department and Big Noise Raploch with coaching for the National Children’s Orchestra, National Schools Symphony Orchestra and Benedetti Foundation as well as a variety of summer schools. He was principal cellist with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and Camerata Scotland, and has since performed with BBC SSO, RSNO and Scottish Opera orchestras alongside a variety of freelance engagements including Red Note Ensemble, Concerto Caledonia and the Les Miserables UK Tour.
