Claire Whitson studied at the Royal Academy of Music and then proceeded into a busy freelance career in London playing regularly with the LSO, Philharmonia, various ensembles and in the West End. After 5 years Claire then went to work with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales where she has now completed a successful 11 years. More recently Claire has been appointed Principal Double Bass of Orchestra of the Swan.

Educationally, Claire is a tutor for the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain where she was also a member alongside Stephanie Benedetti, Nicola’s sister, back in the 90’s. Claire also tutors for the European Youth Summer Music course and also has a excellent reputation for private and in-school teaching.
