Beth Higham-Edwards
Workshop Leader
Beth is a London based percussionist who enjoys performing a range of percussion across various genres. Her recent theatre credits include; The Mirror and the Light (West End for RSC), Inala (West End and international tour), Amadeus, Common, and Twelfth Night (dep) at The National Theatre and The Tempest (for which she was Musical Director), King Lear, Measure for Measure, Macbeth, Henry V (dep), and Othello at Shakespeare’s Globe. Beth was deputy MD on King Lear, Macbeth, and Othello.
Beth has worked with some of the UK’s leading ensembles including; the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, BBC Singers, Paraorchestra, and the London Contemporary Orchestra. She has performed and recorded with bands including Alter Bridge, Bring Me the Horizon and Architects as part of Parallax Orchestra. She has performed live with Blanco White and Fionn Regan, and as a session artist for mercury prize winning Alt J.
Other session work includes working with composers Cheryl Frances-Hoad for Champs Hill Records and Charlotte Harding for Nonclassical.
Beth is known for her work surrounding gender equality amongst instrumentalists and is co-founder of the initiative Gender and the Large and Shiny Instruments. She is a creative associate for SWAP’ra (Supporting Women and Parents in Opera), and is on the board of trustees at the National Children’s Orchestra. Beth is passionate about music education and works as a workshop leader and educator, and holds a teaching post at Junior Trinity Laban.
