Bella Lorenzo-Giguere Cello
American cellist Bella Lorenzo-Giguere sees musical performance as a medium to better understand herself and connect with other people. A keen chamber musician, Bella often seeks collaboration across artistic discipline and musical genre and aims to createenergetic and enriching concert going experiences for her audiences. Recently, Bella had the privilege of working with a singer, composer, and art curators to create a piece responding to Manet’s “A Bar at the Folies-Bergère” at the Courtauld Gallery which delved intothe daily struggles of womenechoing the sentiments of early French feminist movements. Bella also looks forward to concertizing in the UK and Europe with her string quartet, the Baci Quartet,this year in music and art festivals as well as community engagement performances. Recently, Bella enjoyed working on an experimental improvisation project culminating in a gig at Vortex Jazz Club as well as leading the RAM cello section twice in a Haydn 88 workshop with Simon Rattle and in symphony orchestra with Mark Elder.Bella is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts at the Royal Academy of Music studying with Robert Cohen and is financially supported by the Calleva Foundation. She previously had the privilege of studying with Dr. Melissa Kraut and Richard Weiss at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she received a Bachelor’s of Music with Academic Honours. Additionally, she has beena top prize-winner with the National Society of Arts and Letters, Washington Performing Arts Feder and Misbin Competitions, and the Maryland State Music Teachers Association Unaccompanied Bach Competition.
