Andrew Rogers Cello

Performing Bach to Martinu, Andrew Rogers is a Cellist based in Glasgow, graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2024. Whilst at RCS he studied with Martin Storey. Furthermore, he has performed extensively as a continuo cellist with mentorship from David Watkin. A highlight of his time at RCS was organising and performing in a production of Bach’s St John Passion to a sold-out audience at Glasgow Cathedral. Andrew is an active chamber musician and is passionate about challenging conventional collaboration by exploring new sound worlds. Recent highlights include performances around Glasgow to much acclaim with the Coillte quartet and Scottish Guitarist Luke Anderson. Their work in Glasgow communities includesperformanceswith Choral Societies and at events such as the RCScelebration of International Womens Day.

Music education is especially important to Andrew, and he is at the beginning of his teaching career. In 2019, Andrew was fortunate enough to teach in several schools in inner-city Manchester, which ignited a passion for reaching young musicians from all backgrounds. He is a tutor for South Lanarkshire Orchestral Society and is also currently expanding his teaching studio. Andrew is an enthusiastic Orchestral player, performing round the UK, the Channel Islands and Europe. Notably, he performed as part of Berlin Opera Academy, Celtic Connections, the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, Clyde Opera and was principal of the Amadeus Orchestra. Upcoming projects include performing Berlioz Mass, in aside by side with the RSNO and leading the cello section of RCS Symphony Orchestra.
